Now that the league has the app for looking up teams/secs/numbers..

Has the league given it any thought on moving the website to the Full Time website.

The District League, The Senior League, The Leicester Sunday League and the United Counties League are run in this format and it works well.

Team selections, Cards, Goals, Substitutions are all recorded for all the stats.

Just looks a lot easier than the way the Alliance League website is ran. (Take nothing away from you guys).

Just a thought...

I agree with the above, however the Alliance League is very good and informative.

I do think the FA Full Time website is easy to use and navigate around.

The current league site will shortly be taken down and something else uploaded in its place.

I have posted a few times about this, but appreciate not everybody reads everypost.

The web which currently exists, was as a result of needing a new site quickly due to the circumstances surrounding the previous site (those with good memories know the details, it doesn't need publishing again).

At that point in time, the Full Time site was not as dynamic and as readily available as it is now. Being one of the only committee members with any kind of experience in this area, I was responsible for developing what you see today. However, I am far from a web developer, and this was the first ever site Id built or been involved in creating.

As time has increased, and demand has deemed more progress within the site, I have had to hold my hands up and say I am not the person for the job. There have been varying amounts of things I have wanted to release to the wider Alliance audience, but some times red tape and obstacles get in the way.

I have now left the committee and my role as "web manger", but I continue to support the existing site until the alternative is launched. I have a variety of reasons for leaving, which have been aired & shared with the relevant people.

I am not privy to what is being launched, how, or when. But although sometimes budget restraints are an issue, I always feel having your own site is far better than using a generic option. It gives you a unique feel and interaction

I could list pros for and against each option, but I can assure you that each consideration is always thoroughly discussed and thought out.

I'm sure the committee would love to hear from anybody out there, who is willing to volunteer time, help and advice in this space.

I'd certainly consider helping putting results on Full time. I do sweet FA after the 4 o clock game on Sky!

With Full-Time, goal scorers, results and tables will all automatically update (as long as club secretaries got it correct)

That is correct it will. However these are the things which only happen on a Sunday afternoon, not the rest of the week.

It wont automatically do fixtures, referee appointments, points deductions, postponed fixtures and varying other league admin tasks that varying volunteers have to do. It also only deals with the league. You would require separate Full Time links for each cup competition.

Yes, all these things are possible through Full-Time, the system has been built with a mass of funding and developers after all. However, it doesn't necessarily mean it is the best option.

I know a lot of leagues use this function across Leicester, and I know it can be massively helpful and has some great features. There is no denying that.

However I would encourage everybody to see both sides of the argument for and against, and understand that whatever the committee decides (and I genuinely have no idea what this will be), i'm sure that has been thought out and discussed to find the best solution.

Like I said, if somebody wants to volunteer to the league and get involved, it only takes a quick email to register interest to the league secretary or chairman. Its all very well people people suggesting things and saying should be done x,y,z ways. But unless the skills of people exist with the committee it is a completely mute point.

PostSubject: new app/website   Mon 12 Oct 2015, 1:03 pm

I am an iOS developer and could help if the committee wanted to move the website to a native iOS app, or have an iOS app alongside the website. The current app  imho could have been done to a much higher standard although I am completely unaware of the budget/time constraints so not passing judgement at all. Would be so nice to have an app/website which felt more "current" and more in keeping with todays UI/UX exxpericences. Again, I have no idea how the current system works, but having to wait for someone to manually update the results/tables even after teams have submitted is a problem that can easily be solved if the committee wanted to allocate some resources. Let me know if I may be able to help out at all, or even contact me if you have any questions. I will also email the committee directly.

Thanks

Jules
