PostSubject: Magna Town   Thu 14 Jun 2012, 9:15 am

It is with regret that Magna Town have withdrawn from the Alliance League. We have lost a significant amount of players and can not guarantee that we will be able to bring in the right number of players to get us through a season. The decision was tough, but we wanted to make the right call now, rather than be another team who fold mid season letting many people down and causing more hard work.

Ross and I are hopeful we can remain in the Alliance League in other capacities in the future and wish our players luck in their new clubs (or a well earned rest for those who have given up football completely).

Thanks to everyone, including the league, who has supported us over the last 4 years.

Naturally I wish you all the best

As Magna will tell you we have become good friends with Magna Town since we have been in the Alliance league and we also express our shock and surprise at this.

Had 4 really, really tough league games over the past 2 years Winning 5-4, 3-1, drawing 3-3 and losing 2-0 so we were evenly matched in our games, shame to see such a fantastically run club come to an end.

We at NRI wish everyone connected with Magna Town all the very best for the future and what ever paths they take.

You will be sorely missed.........

Sorry to see Magna go.....Huncote like NRI have become good friends with Magna Town over the past couple of years. Always very close and enjoyable games.

Massive credit to Katie & Ross in what they have achieved in four years, a club run in the right manner and deserving of the success that they got.

All the best to all involved and hope to bump into some familiar faces over the season

p.s. also the timing of the decision should be applauded too many teams in the same position would start the season and hope to muddle through. A very brave decision by Katie & Ross and just goes to show the character of the two of them

Cheers guys really appreciate your kind words, they do mean a lot.

This was the hardest decision we have ever had to make, but sometimes they are the most important ones. We struggled with numbers, and the support we requried to get us through a difficult season.

The 4 years have been fantastic and very successful, and thats how I want us to be remembered and not the team that ruined division2 by pulling out half way through. It also gives the players, who have been first class, the opportunity to find the right club for them. Whilst a hard decision it seems right

We have made many many friends along the way I will guarentee we will see you all again next year in one capacity or another!

Paulo informed me of this decision late last night and, like many of you, I was truly shocked.

We at Sparta Moshdock know a lot of the boys at Magna and will miss our annual pre-season friendly against them.

I feel extremely sorry for Katie and Paulo, two of the most honest and hardworking people this league had/have. As has been said, they should be congratulated on both the success over the 4 years and the sensible and responsible timing of this difficult decision.

Hope all the lads find new homes and Paulo and Katie find something to suit them as well.

Goodbye Magna Town....and thank you.

Classic case of Pothunters reaching their level..

Only joking, like many others we've had plenty of tight games against Magna, they're a good team and a good set of lads. Massive shame to see them go and is a total surprise especially after chatting to the management at the Walton final, don't think they had a clue this was round the corner.

Well done to Paulo and Katie for 4 very successful seasons.

On a side note, we might bag ourselves a few decent players, so every cloud..

Not good to see Magna folding, as has been said, we enjoyed some great games with them, and some good banter, also they gave our Chicko a place to play football rather than go to the knackers yard to be shot!!
As has been said, some good players, and those that are left will probably be in div 1-3, so hopefully the silver lining is that other teams will have more numbers and become stronger (and not fold)

Seriously though, very sad to see such a good team go, it hasn't gone un-noticed all the hard work and dedication you've shown, you were good for this league, and its a real shame that this has been announced.

You must continue to come on here, and keep my pecker up........... bounce

I'm not going anywhere Helly, if only to keep up our conversations!!! Very Happy Ross will find a new team soon enough and I'll pester someone to take me on too!

Yes it's my birthday this week, and yes we're getting married and that's a lot of hard work and takes up time, but the only reason we're not continuing is genuinely the lack of players- we only had 8 tell us they were staying and couldn't see where we'd get more from. If they continue as a team or go to other teams, it will be their decision and nothing to do with me and Ross. FYI- honeymoon to Mexico!!!! sunny

Phew...i hope its Cancun, as i have just booked the same 2 weeks myself, oh you'll know its me alright, i'll be laying on a sunbed, bronzing my 8 pack, i'll probably be surrounded by nubile females, but when i see you i'll sweep them all aside, like wafting away a pesky fly, and i'l hold out my big red hand, and look deep into your eyes, and say, "do my back for me luv", whilst handing you the coconut oil and when you massage it into my massive strong shoulders, you'll melt over me, just like the oil, you will become one with it, Ross will be a distant memory, plus, i will buy you any icecream you want, and you can forget all your troubles, helly will look after you, going loco down in Acapulco.
